Welcome
to the District of Three Lakes.
My philosophy for education can be summed up in five words; failure is
not an option. As educators, it is our duty to enable every
child to reach their individual potential and become a productive
citizen. To do this, a united front must be formed among
teachers, administrators, counselors, and parents. Respect is
a key issue. If we are going to expect students to respect
themselves and others, we must model respect in everything we
do. Students are individuals with different needs.
It is our job to equip each of them with tools that enable them as
individuals.
We believe it is our mission to teach all students to be productive
citizens. This underscores why Three Lakes has the highest
graduation rate in the area. Three Lakes also boasts the highest
percentage of students going on to two- or four-year colleges,
technical or vocational institutes. The competitive standards put in
place by these institutions require that all our students need to
acquire a well-rounded education. To this end, athletics, the
arts, school clubs and our cooperative work experiences have much to
offer. Factors such as added confidence, self-discipline and
an increased skill-set provide students with a great springboard for
success both during and long after their high school experience.
We think you will be pleased with the wide array of advanced coursework
and unique opportunities that await you here. In our efforts to make
the most of our students' educational experience we encourage open
communication between home and school. Through PowerSchool,
parents are given complete access to their student's grades, attendance
and lunch account. Your ideas, thought and hopes are crucial
in helping us advise and prepare our students as they progress toward
their future career paths.
Dr. James Comer concluded that, "No significant learning
occurs without a significant relationship.” Here at
Three Lakes, we try to embrace this idea. Our teaching staff
understands that education is not about having the best facility; it is
not about developing a superior curriculum, it’s about how we
deliver instruction! It’s not what we do but how we
do it and it’s not what we say but how we say it.
How instruction is presented and making it personal for students is
what enables higher learning. That is what we do, it is what
sets us apart from other schools, and with continued efforts along this
path it is what will enable The District of Three Lakes to continue to
produce Productive Citizens.
